Welcome Home, VGS Family

For the fifth consecutive year, Van Lang Global School opens its doors to welcome back graduates for the Alumni Homecoming & Career Networking Summit. This two-day event has become a cornerstone of the VGS community calendar, bringing together graduates from all class years to reconnect with each other, revisit the campus that shaped their formative years, and give back to the next generation of VGS students.

This year's theme, "Bridges We Build," celebrates the connections VGS alumni create between cultures, industries, and generations. With alumni now working in over 30 countries across fields ranging from artificial intelligence to sustainable architecture, the stories and insights they bring back are as diverse as they are inspiring.

Day 1: Reconnection and Reflection

The first day focuses on reconnecting with the VGS community. Morning campus tours — led by current students — showcase the latest developments: the new Innovation Hub, the expanded sports complex, and the recently opened rooftop garden. Alumni are consistently amazed by how the campus has evolved while retaining the welcoming atmosphere they remember.

The afternoon features panel discussions where alumni share their post-VGS journeys. Past panels have included "From VGS to Silicon Valley," "Building Social Enterprises in Southeast Asia," and "The Art of Career Pivoting." These candid conversations offer current students invaluable insights into the realities of university and professional life.

Day 2: Mentorship and Networking

The second day is dedicated to structured mentorship and networking. The flagship Speed Mentoring session pairs every Grade 11 and 12 student with three alumni mentors for focused 20-minute conversations. Students come prepared with questions about university applications, career choices, and life beyond school.

"My speed mentoring session at the 2025 Homecoming completely changed my university plans," shares current student Nguyen Hoang Anh. "I met an alumna working in biomedical engineering in Singapore, and she helped me see that my interest in both biology and technology could combine into an amazing career path. I had never even considered biomedical engineering before that conversation."

Industry Workshops

New this year: alumni-led industry workshops covering practical topics such as personal branding, interview skills, portfolio development, and financial literacy for young professionals. These interactive sessions are designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world professional skills.

Building a Lifelong Network

The VGS Alumni Association has grown to over 2,000 members across six continents. Annual homecoming events, regional meetups, and an active online community keep graduates connected long after they leave campus. As Alumni Association president Tran Minh Duc puts it: "VGS doesn't just give you an education — it gives you a global family. Homecoming is when that family comes together to celebrate how far we've come and support each other on the journey ahead."
